Our Waitlist for 2025 is full at the moment until we know for certain how many puppies we will have available in our upcoming litters. Should we have any availability, be the first to know by filling out our puppy application.
*We must remind our potential families that a "Mini Golden" is just a descriptive and fun name to call our hybrid puppies. We are not trying to create purebred Golden Retrievers that are outside the AKC's breed height and weight standards. This breeding is intentional, and our available puppies are limited due to making sure we protect the health and wellbeing of all potential dogs and puppies in our breeding program. The idea behind making a smaller, SIMILAR version (not an exact copy) of a Golden Retriever has been around for decades and we do not claim to be the first and we certainly won't be the last. We do intend to continue to do things with compassion and care towards both breeds and will not sacrifice health or temperament to quickly grow our breeding program. Mini Golden Retriever
I’ve never heard of a "Mini Golden" before! Can you tell me more?
Mini Golden are known by many different names depending on what breeder is creating them. They are a lesser-known variation of the traditional Golden Retriever, created by responsibly crossing Golden Retrievers with smaller breeds like Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, with some breeders preferring a touch of Poodle to maintain their loving temperament and intelligence in a more compact size. While they aren’t an official breed, they’re growing in popularity for families or individuals who want the classic Golden Retriever charm but prefer a smaller, more manageable dog for their lifestyle.
Our program emphasizes breeding for health, temperament, and conformation, so you get all the wonderful qualities you’d expect in a Golden Retriever but tailored to fit a wider range of homes and lifestyles. If you’ve never met a Mini Golden, I’d love to share more about them—they truly bring so much joy to their families!

What Makes a Red Valley Mini Golden?
Our Mini Goldens, sometimes also referred to as Golden Cavaliers, are a carefully crafted mix of two exceptional breeds: the loyal and intelligent Golden Retriever and the gentle, loving Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This unique blend is designed to bring the best of both worlds -- retaining the iconic Golden Retriever personality while offering a more manageable size. Mini Goldens inherit the Golden's trainability, enthusiasm, and affectionate nature, beautifully complimented by the Cavalier's adaptable temperament, spunky enthusiasm, and cuddly charm. The result is a smaller, well-rounded companion perfect for families, singles, or anyone seeking a dog with the heart of a Golden in a smaller package.
*Please note: We cannot guarantee an exact height or weight as many things come into play when you breed two different sized breeds of dogs. However, we can guesstimate our mini's will be around 25lbs to 45lbs. While that range may not mean "mini" to some, we consider that a mini version of their parent breed the Golden Retriever whose weight ranges from 55lbs-75lbs per the AKC's breed standard. Therefore, that is how we deemed them "Mini Goldens" as a fun way to describe them. We have always intended for similar, and not identical as that would be impossible to do and will not claim to do so. *
Are mini goldens good with children?
Yes! Mini Goldens are generally excellent with children! Thanks to their heritage, they inherit traits that make them wonderful companions for families with kids. Here's why:
1. Gentle Nature: The Cavalier is known for its sweet, patient disposition, which helps balance the high energy of a Golden Retriever. This combination results in a gentle and affectionate dog that's naturally good around children.
2. Playful and Fun-loving: Mini Goldens tend to share the Golden Retrievers love for play, making them great for active families who enjoy outdoor activities and interactive games.
3. Loyal and Protective: Both parent breeds are loyal and form strong bonds with their families. Mini Goldens are attentive and loving, making them a comforting presence around kids.
4. Highly Trainable: Their intelligence and eagerness to please make training easier, allowing families to instill good manners and create a safe and happy environment for children and pets.
*A Note on Supervision: As with any dog, interactions between young children and Mini Goldens should always be supervised, especially during the puppy stage when the dog is still learning boundaries. Teaching children how to interact respectfully with their puppy will help foster a positive and safe relationship.
How Can i bring one home?
If we have any available puppies, we will list them if they are not reserved and update our website as needed.

If we have any available puppies or an available upcoming litter that has been offered to you to join, we will have you place a reservation fee to hold your future puppy until their Go-Home Day, without a reservation placed we cannot hold any puppy at any time.
